Live propane. Live fire. Proprietary equipment built for the rig. Instructors with 40 years of field experience. When your crew responds to a hazmat incident, they need more than a certificate — they need the real thing.
Every STS course is built around live materials, real scenarios, and hard-earned knowledge from instructors who have worked the incidents your crew will face. We deliver at your facility, on your schedule, anywhere in the country.

"We don't teach simulations. We don't teach theory. We put your crew in — before a real incident finds them."
Todd Smith spent over 22 years on the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Hazardous Materials Team. Every course and every piece of equipment reflects what actually happens in the field — not what looks good in a manual.
STS training uses live propane and real flammable liquids. Students leave knowing how hazardous materials actually behave, not how they behave in a textbook. That confidence is what makes the difference when seconds count.
Training happens at your facility, on your schedule. STS coordinates around your crew's rotations and brings everything the department needs, including proprietary training props not available anywhere else.
Todd Smith began his emergency response career in 1985 at age 19 as a volunteer firefighter. After more than two decades on the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Hazardous Materials Team, he founded STS to bring real-world expertise to departments across the country.
His goal: students leave every training with a clear grasp of the material and the confidence to apply it when making decisions on an emergency incident scene.
